Speaking to the Mayor of Reykjavík about the future of climate change education

We were honored to receive Dagur B. Eggertsson Mayor of Reykjavík, and Climate and educational leaders from the City of Reykjavík to discuss the future of climate change education in Iceland with us. We presented our vision for Astrid and discussed how difficult it is to communicate relevant, scientific information in a comprehensible way for youth which also inspires action and instills hope.

We introduced our method of collaborating with climate change experts, scientists and researchers, and how we use this to create immersive, engaging Educational Games, Stories and Tools.

“Education is crucial to promote climate action. It helps people understand and address the impacts of the climate crisis, empowering them with the knowledge, skills, values
and attitudes needed to act as agents of change.”

-UNESCO

Our discussion focused on how we could empower teachers to adopt these types of new learning materials and integrate it with their current ones. We imagined what it could mean for education moving forward, if youth were able to debate climate change issues and knew how to start taking climate actions.

We look forward to more meetings like this which will hopefully bring Astrid to schools in Iceland and beyond!
